Everclear

Everclear hailed from Portland, Oregon and had an almost immediate impact on Album Rock audiences. The band combined lyrical commentary of everyday situations, combined with a musical style that featured "alternative" guitar riffs. Their sound produced a number one on the Mainstream Rock charts, Santa Monica (Watch The World Die), early in 1996. Everclear went on to be one of the more successful bands in Rock for the remainder of the 1990's.

The Wallflowers

Bob Dylan's son Jacob fronted The Wallflowers, as their first successful album, Bringing Down The Horse hit the Album Rock radio airwaves in 1996. Their style was more simple and basic, with a slight blues feel. This style proved popular with typical 1990's Rock fans, as the grunge and post·grunge sounds of the time retured Rock to more of its roots, unlike the commercialized sound from the previous decade.

Their track One Headlight topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart in early 1997.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, at the young age of 18, first broke into the national spotlight in 1996 with the late 1995 release of the album Ledbetter Heights. With his blues-rock fusion style, Shepherd showcased his talents on successful tracks such as Deja Voodoo, Born With A Broken Heart, and Aberdeen. Along with his backing band, Shepherd would be a staple on Album Rock radio for the rest of the decade!
